Rivka
Rivkah a mother of 10, Rivka lives and works in a local store. The wages, unfortunately, are far from enough to pay rent and a many of the bills. In her house the children are hungry. The Refrigerator Is literally empty.
Every evening the children come to the obvious place: the warm, welcoming home of Linas Hachesed soup kitchen. When they are done eating they pack up a meal for their mom so that she, too, may eat with dignity. Many times she cries when she eats. No, those are not tears of sorrow, but those for gratitude and relief. Better days are surely ahead all of them. But for now, another day has passed and everyone is fed. Thank God.

Moishele
A ten year old child from a home of many children that lost their mother. Moishele is learning Torah most of the day, only to return home hungry. He's yet to have eaten a meal. But Moishele knows exactly where one goes when one is hungry: the Lians Hachesed soup kitchen. There's not much to think about -- he comes in, he eats, and his hunger is gone....
Moishele returns home, stretches out on his little bed, says Krias Shma and falls peacefully asleep.
R' Chaim
R'Chaim is Torah personafied. An immense Talmid Chochom who studies at one of the important Kolels in Jerusalem. Going to learn without eating first throws his learning off kilter completely. Its hard to concentrate and his grasp of the issues is less firm. Learning Torah was never a "get rich quick" scheme, but food, says the Mishna, is a prerequisite.
It is here, in Linas Hachesed soup kitchen, that R' Chaim finds his breakfast. The fuel that will drive his unrelenting desire to learn Torah for hours on end
R' Chiskiya
A father of seven who lives in the dwelling of the Bucharians in Jerusalem. A few weeks ago he lost his job. R' Chisikya has many things to worry about: water and electric bills... mortgage... the one thing he doesnt need to worry about, thank God, is food. Linas Hachesed takes care of that. Every day he comes in, picks up hot, delicious food, all wrapped up, for everyone in the family and goes home. Once there R' Chiskiya his wife and seven children sit and eat. No food worries.
